Tabaci Memoriae (2017)
Tabaci Memoriae is a site-specifc work about Mana Contemporary in Jersey City, NJ and the building's history as a cigarette factory. I grew tobacco in my studio during my residency and planted it on the property to acknowledge our historical relationship with tobacco and how colonialist practices continue to shape labor on this land.
My recent performance works include a live ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) video about data censorship and an algorithmic music composition/performance called The Descent of Dust — a meditation on failure — which is driven by a genetic algorithm, whose virtual colonies suffer repeated population crashes.
